Mancos Mesa is one of the wildest places in the lower 48 states. It is a roadless area that remains remote and its archaeological areas unseen. With incised canyons on a mesa of 5,000-6,000 feet elevation, it is hard to reach even by foot and for that reason it maintains its primitive character.
