We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the Bears Ears Inter-Tribal Coalition’s new blog!

I’m Ruben Pacheco, the Bears Ears Inter-Tribal Coalition’s Communications and Partnerships Director, and we created this space to share updates, insights, and stories about the vital work of the five Tribes collaboratively managing the Bears Ears National Monument (BENM).

Bears Ears is more than just a landscape—it represents a living cultural and spiritual legacy for the Hopi Tribe, Navajo Nation, Ute Indian Tribe, Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, Pueblo of Zuni, and other Tribal nations. The new blog, the Bears Ears Bulletin, will give you a behind-the-scenes look at how the five Tribes work together, alongside federal agency partners, to protect, conserve, and steward this sacred landscape.

Our goal is to provide an open window into the Coalition’s activities, fostering a deeper understanding of the significance of this sacred landscape. Through this platform, we will highlight the rich cultural and natural heritage of the Bears Ears region, with a strong focus on Traditional Indigenous Knowledge (TIK). In many ways TIK is the foundation of the Coalition’s work, shaping the Tribes’ approaches to land management, cultural preservation, and community engagement.

This blog will serve as a dedicated space for exploring the intersection of Indigenous stewardship, Traditional Knowledge, and contemporary conservation efforts. You’ll find stories about Coalition activities including collaborative management, cultural initiatives, community engagement, and the ancestral knowledge that has guided Tribal Nations for thousands of years. As we navigate the challenges ahead, including the potential impacts of a second Trump administration, this blog will also serve as a resource to help you understand and stay informed about developments at Bears Ears.

Together, we can honor the land, preserve its stories, and work toward a sustainable future for Bears Ears. We invite you to join us on this journey by visiting the blog, where we’ll share regular updates, insights, and stories. Keep an eye on our social media channels for announcements whenever a new post goes live.

Be sure to follow us for the latest updates and to stay connected with the vital work of the Coalition.

Thank you for being part of this important effort. Stay tuned—there’s so much more to share!
